Before we decide how to recognize it, let's first look at the definition of a classic.
Webster's says that a classic is "Traditional -Enduring- serving as a standard of excellence".
Wikipedia, if you want a more contemporary view, says "An outstanding example of a particular style, something of lasting worth."
Well in the world of travel, those definitions fit a large number of places and things. Like the Seattle Space Needle or Chihuly Glass garden also in Seattle. These are pretty easy to recognize!
I discovered another place in Seattle that is reflective of these descriptions, The Mayflower Park Hotel!
As I will attempt to show you, it fits both definition's from Webster and Wikipedia quite well.
Traditional and Enduring
This property will celebrate it's 90th birthday in July of 2017. That says enduring to me.
The style is Traditional European Boutique and wonderfully renovated with a little nip and tuck where needed.
Example of style-Accommodations
We toured 3 distinctively different rooms and I was more impressed as we went along.
The Classic Queen, the Deluxe Queen and the King Suite were all well appointed and comfortable. We stayed in the Classic Queen, but I think the Deluxe Queen is a perfect value between space and price.
Standard of Excellence-Oliver's Bar
Well, I now think I can recognize a classic when I see one and it looks a lot like the Mayflower Park Hotel. Please enjoy this location and to see more, check out our youtube channel for more about the property and it's prime location!
